Triple Jazz Showcase: The Doug Hewitt Group, Kwajmal Jazz Band, Small Change

The Doug Hewitt Group performs uniquely original music and jazz and covers ranging from Coltrane to the Beatles. In 2006 Doug released "Picasso Tomato" his 6th album which is the group's main source of original material. The band is Doug Hewitt -guitar and vocals, John Crankshaw -drums, Mitch Pine -piano, Robby Roiter -bass and Jake Whitesell -flute. The Doug Hewitt Group performs three types of shows: jazz, rock and originals which fuse those genres.
Kwajmal Jazz Band is: Lysander Jaffe -violin and viola, Marty Jaffe -acoustic bass, Kai Matsuda -alto and soprano saxophones, Wataru Sano -drums, Brian Wendel -trombone, Janice Wendel -flute, Della Green -vocals, Andy Jaffe -piano/keyboards. They have been performing in the area for two and a half years.
Small Change is Dennis Avery -Dobro, vocals, blues harp, Karen Hogness -mandolin, vocals, Al Canali -guitar and vocals, Dick Boehmer -wash tub bass, vocals. They have no idea how old this band is. When it is discussed they’ve settled on “early to mid 70s.” Diversity in musical tastes has given Small Change a very eclectic mix of music.
